Arunachaleswarar Temple Darshan

The Arunachaleswarar Temple is one of the largest and most magnificent Shiva temples in India. During festival days and full moons, the free darshan line can take 4-6 hours. Knowing how to navigate the ticketing system can save you immense time.

Temple Timings

  • Morning: 5:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Evening: 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Types of Darshan

There are multiple entry tiers to the main sanctum (Garbhagriha):

  1. Free Darshan (Dharma Darshan): Completely free. Wait times range from 30 minutes on a normal weekday to 6 hours on a Full Moon (Pournami).
  2. ₹50 Special Darshan: Bypasses the initial crowds but merges with the main line later. Good for weekends.
  3. ₹250 VIP Darshan: (Price subject to change). This is highly recommended if you are short on time. It takes you almost directly to the inner sanctum. Tickets are purchased at dedicated counters inside the temple compound.

Online Booking

During peak times (like Karthigai Deepam), the temple administration often opens online booking portals for Special Darshan tickets to manage crowd control. Always check the official HR&CE (Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments) website before traveling during major festivals.
